nakakatawa naman. wala man lang rason ang pag-uwi ni cynthia. bakit pa siya umuwi. dapat man lang may dahilan, knowing that she’s escaping from murder and she’s risking “her” son from being taken away from her.
that aside, i watched the preview of walang kapalit. i’m not over 30 yet but i like watching old 80s filipino movies. todo na! parang pinaghalong hindi nahahati ang langit (1985) by mike de leon and Maging akin ka lamang (1987) by lino brocka.
well, everything in the story is hindi nahahati ang langit (HNAL) based, but the latter plot is so maging akin ka lamang (MAKL). giving cynthia a reprieve and noel (yes noel) so that melanie can become close to ernest, her and noel’s son.
coincidentally, maging akin ka lamang also starred lorna tolentino, dina bonnevie and christopher de leon (plus jay ilagan who’s not in HNAL) and his character is also an architect. the only thing is in MAKL, the baby robber is the bida.
here’s the synopsis i got from kabayan central about MAKL.
Lorna Tolentino plays Rosita Monteverde, a rich heiress who will stop at nothing to win Andy’s love. Christopher de Leon is Andy Abrigo, an ambitious architect who married his long-time sweetheart and classmate, Elsa (A native young lady played by Dina). The rejection angers Rosita and to get back at the happy couple, she concocts an evil scheme which she hopes will not only destroy their marriage but will bring Andy on his knees to her. The movie marks the first directorial job of Lino Brocka.
To continue the story (this one by me already)…
Rosita brings the child back from the states. i don’t remember how andy and elsa knew that rosita’s son is their son. but anyway, elsa gets her son back but is aloof at her and constantly asks for rosita. elsa then tells rosita that she should bridge their (elsa and her son’s) relationship but rosita would only do that if andy would sleep with her. elsa agrees and tells andy. andy is furious but obliges.
